Dan Hughes appointed to ALFA International's Board of Directors
Anthony Harper's head of litigation, Dan Hughes, has been appointed to ALFA International's Board of Directors.
Founded in 1980, ALFA International is a global legal network with 140 member firms worldwide. Its members provide high-quality, cost-effective legal services through local expertise and a geographically comprehensive network of exceptional law firms.
Hughes was elected to the Board by his peers at ALFA International's 2024 Annual Business Meeting in New York, commencing his three-year term on 25 October 2024.
Hughes said he was honoured to be elected to the Board, joining 15 legal professionals to strengthen the network's global relationships.
"I look forward to collaborating with my peers on the Board to build on ALFA International's impressive legacy, ensuring that our clients have access to the highest quality legal expertise globally."
Hughes is an experienced commercial litigator with 20 years' experience, particularly in insolvency, restructuring and construction payment claims. His experience in insolvency has resulted in ground breaking accomplishments for New Zealand law, including being the first to apply and successfully obtain recognition of a U.S. bankruptcy in New Zealand, as well as having New Zealand liquidators recognised and appointed in Australia.
A partner at Anthony Harper since 2015, Hughes has significantly expanded the firm's litigation practice, adding specialised expertise in construction, health and safety and insolvency to its general commercial experience.
In July 2024, Hughes launched Anthony Harper's new, award-winning document discovery outsourcing service, the Discovery Specialists, together with colleague Joey James. A first for New Zealand document discovery, the Discovery Specialists combines legal expertise and advanced technology to streamline document discovery needs.
