Tamara Webster specialises in advising the retirement village, aged care and health sectors on a broad range of matters affecting their businesses.
Tamara understands the unique pressures these sectors face, with more than ten years' experience gained in both in-house and private practice roles. She applies her sound knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations and Government contracts to assist her clients navigating everything from day-to-day operations and compliance, to complex and sensitive issues and disputes. Her clients range from small not-for-profits to five of the "Big Six".
Clients appreciate Tamara's calm demeanour and pragmatic approach, which balances intellectual rigour with commerciality. Tamara has particular expertise in responding to complaints in relation to retirement villages and health services, often resolving matters before they progress to formal complaint processes.
Tamara has been recognised as a 2024 Rising Star by NZ Lawyer and continues to work with clients offering innovative models and approaches to aged care. She has assisted a number of aged care providers with the introduction of care suites occupied under an occupation right agreement and assisted Oceania Healthcare with the launch of New Zealand's first, private funded residential care facility.
Tamara is also dedicated to improving LGBTQ+ inclusion in the legal profession and her specialist sectors, having spoken on a number of panels on the topic.

- Acted for a large aged-care provider in relation to referral to the Director of Proceedings and resulting HRRT declaration by consent.
- Acted for operators in relation to formal complaints and dispute notices issued under the Retirement Villages Act 2003.
- Acted for operators in relation to the termination of occupation right agreements and admission agreements, and managed exit of residents in highly sensitive and complex situations.
- Advised Retirement village operators and aged care providers on a range of policies and SOPs, including in relation to assisted dying following the passing of the End of Life Choice Act 2019.
- Advised Retirement village operators on the introduction of care suites, including preparing and reviewing occupation right agreements, disclosure statements and admission agreements.
